A look into the semester!
I anticipate learning a lot about myself and my writing style. After looking at some of the previous blogs, it seems like students have had the freedom to express themselves throughout this class and assignments. Maintaining a blog is something that I’ve wanted to try for a while. I also anticipate learning a lot more about media and social media. Both play a significant role in how people gain knowledge of what is going on in our world. I also anticipate learning a lot about media production. After looking at the syllabus, I see things like an audio project and a video story. Although I know what audio and video are, I am intrigued to know what those assignments entail.
This semester, I want to grow my knowledge of politics. Especially with the election coming in 2020, politics is something I have never paid much attention to in the past. I want to push myself out of my comfort zone, so I think that’s an excellent place to start. With politics, I also think I want to focus on civics. I also would be interested in reporting about what is happening on campus. As students, we need to be more informed about UW in a more engaging way.
I am involved in Fraternity and Sorority Life here on campus and its something that I hold very near and dear to me. For that reason, I want to promote that this semester. Specifically, I would like to promote my chapter, Tri Delta. Along with that, I would boost St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude is Tri Delta’s national philanthropy, so there is always a story to tell there. I would love to run public relations for an organization like that when I graduate. I’m not 100% sure if it’s a good topic, but I love all things, Disney and Harry Potter. I want to promote Disney World and Universal Studios for this semester as well.
Overall I am excited to see how this semester plays out and watch my skills grow!
